ANZAC exhibit

Mum and I visited the tauranga art gallery.  We looked at art by Bob Kerr (Hell here now - The Gallipoli Diary of Alfred Cameron). Bob Kerr painted pictures and wrote in a line from Alfred Camerons journal.
We also looked at 'Now & Then' which is photos from different decades. There was also 'The state of the house' by Raye Catran which was lots of paintings of houses. The last two were 'Wayne Youle' & 'Collecting Robin White'.

I didn't really enjoy this exhibit  as I didn't get pretty much any of the paintings or photos.

Looking after Bree

I taught Bree how to play Mary had a Little Lamb on the piano. But the video was to big so heres her doing her gangnam style to make up for it. I also taught her a ballet dance.

Theres no music.

SPCA exhibition.

"A wickedly clever plan. :
Ah the plan. ... it was a plan of fiendishly cunning proportions.   There was only one flaw to this!   People.  I had decided that since a picture paints a thousand words. .. a video of the police dog exhibition on Saturday would not only cover my exhibition homework. .. tick. .. I wouldn't have to write anything about it. ..double tick! !! What could possibly go wrong? ?? :p such a silly question.
Who knew that most people have no spacial awareness.   Or maybe they are just rude.  So instead of amazing footage of the police dog bringing down an offender I have a in depth study of the hair hygiene of the residents of the Bay.  Interesting...
Then after fighting my way through the shaky film the file size was ludicrous! ! Note to self.  Limit film length.
After all that I'm going to have to describe the exhibition to you. Sigh.
The police arrived in a wail of sirens.  There was a blast of explosives and all the dogs watching froze.  They held their breaths but the police dog just got more excited.  Once the order was issued the dog took after the man threatening with a gun.  It didn't take a minute for the dog to bring down the baddie.  The police dog thrashed the man about like a rag doll. It was soon over and the police dog was happy to play with small children.   They are extremely brave dogs and very well trained.   I enjoyed the display.

Dinner

Anzac dinner.
In remembrance of my grandfather who served in WW2 I cooked an Italian themed dinner. Granddad loved Italy because that was where he had his first leave during the war. So I cooked my famous Italian dinner. it was a real hit last year.
~Le Menu~

Note: The photos are from last year, as it is a task to send them through to my computer.

Dance

I go to Precision Dance with Amy Campbell. I have three lessons a week and there really fun. On Monday I have ballet at 6:30 next term but I had it at 5:45 last term. Then on Thursday I have ballet at 3:30 after school then I have a urban class at 6. Urban is really fun we are pretty much just insane for the how lesson. The music is really jazzy and all the girls are nice.  I'm sitting my grade five exam for ballet.

SPCA

We feed the cats. We did other stuff. We did one room in adoption. We did the white room, the cats are always crazy. I don't know why this is but there always a little bit insane, one when we open'd the cage launched at my face and hit my nose really hard, Mum says it was like a scene from 'Alien' a film. When you walk past the cages razor sharp claws shoot out from between the bars.  We did the green room. We did the hospital. In the Green room there was a kitten with extra toes, and was sick, it was really cute, I was really worried about it, it wouldn't eat or do anything it would just sit there it was just bigger than my hand. I found white kitty in the hospital. We went home.

Google has unveiled it's latest invention.  Google glasses. The glasses are voice activated, and you can still see what your doing, it just has a small screen in the corner of the glasses. Only the wear can hear the glasses but they don't have speakers or head phones, but bone conduction audio which passes vibrations to the tiny bones in our ears, tricking our ears into thinking their hearing sound. You can take photos & video's of what your seeing and you can get messages and answer them.

I think that this is cool.

Britain and America have been arguing over who has the smallest park. The current smallest park is in Portland, Oregon which is a concrete planter of 2 feet (0.6 meters). The other park is in England, and it's 15 feet (4.5 meters) by 30 feet (9 meters). The one in England doesn't claim that theirs is physical smaller but is the one in Portland a Park.

I think that this is just weird.

Giant snails have invaded Florida. Over 1000 have been caught. The giant African land snail can eat through plaster, and damages buildings. It eats over 500 types of known plants. According to Denise Feiber. Denise Feiber also said that Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services were researching it.

I think that they need giant hedgehogs because hedgehogs eat snails.

Half of Justin Bieber's followers are fake. Justin supposedly had 37.3 million followers on twitter. research has found that he has only 17.8 are real accounts, with the other 19.5 million followers were fake accounts and were sending spam. This means only 47% are real fans.  Lady Gaga has has 19 million real fans.

What I think about this is...
I wonder why people have to make spam and viruses what does it accomplish?

ANZ gives out fake money. A customer was given fake Canadian money before she went on holiday. When she went to a restaurant they wouldn't take her $100 bills. She then went to a Canadian bank where the remaining $220 were confiscated for being counterfeit. ANZ doesn't know how the counterfeit notes slipped through the machine be cause they have a fast processing machine.

I think that the customer should be give compensation for having to go through this ordeal.

Homework expectations

Amount
We think that 30-45 minutes every weeknight is a reasonable expectation for homework. Per week that equals approximately 2.5 hours per week of homework.
2 terms = 20 weeks. Every homework task should take you 5 hours to do.

Quality

You need to work on each homework task for at least 2.5 to 5 hours. It should like it was done by a year 8 student. The product you make (if relevant) should look good quality.

Blog Post
- must be at least 2 paragraphs
- has to be punctuated correctly, spell checked and no errors
- you must include which category and task number in your post title so Miss C can sign you off.

News 11/4/13

A study has found the more time you spend on Facebook you could get lower grades. A study by Canterbury University of 106 high school students & 211 university students found that 56% of students in high school spent 15 min to an hour each session. While 54% of university students spent 5 to 15 minutes.  The study found the more time on Facebook the lower the grades.  Canterbury University quickly pointed out that Facebook may not be the cause.

My opinion:
I think that it would have something to do with it & that if  people that -13 shouldn't sign up because it is actually illegal and probably not be good for you.

A festival of cat videos on the internet has returned.  The festival includes people voting for their favourite videos. The most popular videos were played on a big screen. The last year festival attracted over 10,000 visitors.  It will start out in Minnesota and travel to New York.

My opinion is that I think it is awesome.

SPCA

When Mum and I went to the SPCA for the second time, sickness had swept the place with all the cats sneezing  The rooms we did were the adoption room, the white room and the hospital. The cats were crazy in the adoption room there were heaps of kittens and some cats, they all kept fighting and the kittens were so fast they kept escaping. Then we did the white room and White Kitty was there. Mum kept getting skull massages, with claws from the cats in the cages above.

News 8/4/13

A Danish MP, Marie Kraup, has criticised the powhiri she received as a welcome into New Zealand. Marie Kraup said that the powhiri was 'uncivilised and grotesque.' Marie Kraup later said that what she said was out of 'context and translated incorrectly.' She wrote an article about it saying 'she was welcomed by a half naked man shouting in Maori and poking his tongue out.'

My option:
I think that it should be optional because the haka actually is a war dance and it may be taken the wrong way.

3 course dinner, Homework challenge G2

I've made 2  3 course meals. The first one was, a shrimp cocktail for a starter then a roast lamb with roast vegetables, for the main course. For dessert we had a self saucing chocolate pudding.

Then the next day I used up the left overs and made a shepherds pie for the main then a pineapple upside down cake for the dessert with a pallet cleanser of grape caterpillars with cloves for eyes.

Feedback: The feedback I got was that it was good.
